Gamers, it’s time to dust off those controllers and upgrade those setups! A new year means a new year for gaming as well. 2024 was certainly an impactful year in terms of game releases. There were several big titles like Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, and Metaphor: ReFantazio. As we go in to the new year, here are the top games of 2025 releasing this year in no particular order.
10. Assassin’s Creed Shadows
After years of waiting, we finally have Ninja Assassins! Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes place in feudal Japan and, keeping with the trend, you have two options for playthroughs. You can play as a sneaky shinobi assassin or brute force your way through the game as a samurai. After how bloated Assassin’s creed Valhalla and its DLC felt, fans are hopping Shadows does a lot better.
9. Avowed
If you’re a big Pillar’s of Eternity fan or just someone who enjoys a good action RPG, then you have something to look forward to with Avowed. Looking like the love child of Baldur’s Gate and Diablo, Avowed has the makings of being one of the best games of 2025. The animations look extremely well done and personally, you know we’re a sucker for a good fantasy RPG. Avowed is definitely a game to look out for come February.
8. Grand Theft Auto VI
Yes, we can stop with the jokes now. GTA VI is officially coming out this year! After waiting for what feels like an eternity, the sixth installment in Rockstar’s iconic crime-filled saga is finally coming out this year. We’re hoping it’s filled with way more missions, interactable objects, and modability. I can’t think of any other title people have been waiting for as long as GTA VI.
7. Ghost of Yotei
Fans of Ghost of Tsushima are eating very good this year. Set 300 years after the first game, Ghost of Yotei takes place in the land surrounding Mount Yotei. With better animations and graphics, we think Ghost of Yotei has the potential to outdo its predecessor. Unfortunately, it’s once again a PlayStation exclusive. (Maybe this is your sign to pick up a PS5? Idk we had a ton of signs in December)
6. Monster Hunter Wilds
Capcom brings a new adventure in the Monster Hunter series with wild environments and relentless monsters. As a long-time MH fan, this is the game I’m most excited for! It combines the best parts of Monster Hunter Rise and gives us something fresh. This installment features transforming environments, from lush forests to harsh deserts, and is my personal favorite among the upcoming games of 2025.
5. Fable
Fans of the original series rejoice! Fable (2025) brings players back to the land of Albion once more in this reboot of the beloved franchise from 2012. Players will once again have the chance to explore a land of fantastical creatures and wondrous places. Players will embark on an epic journey, shaping their character’s destiny through choices and actions, with a rich open world to explore. Plus it looks like they kept the old whimsical feel of the original game!
4. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Continuing the saga of Henry of Skalitz in medieval Bohemia, this sequel builds on the original’s commitment to historical accuracy and realism. With improved graphics, more intricate questlines, and enhanced combat mechanics, players will experience political intrigue, warfare, and personal growth2.
3. Little Nightmares III
If you enjoyed the first two skin-crawling and disturbing installments, you’ll love the latest addition to the series. In this game, you follow the journey of two young friends, Low and Alone, who are trapped in a nightmarish world called the Nowhere. They must work together to solve puzzles, evade terrifying monsters, and find a way out of this disturbing place. The game features both online co-op mode for two players and a solo mode with an AI companion
2. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
One of the most anticipated games of 2025, It’s a remake of the beloved classic. Follow Naked Snake on a mission in Soviet territory in all new HD graphics and animations. Players can relive the intense stealth-action gameplay and dynamic combat sequences.
1. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
Kojima’s sequel to the popular 2019 game. It focuses on exploring themes of the pandemic and features more bizarre elements. Players will return as Sam Porter Bridges, navigating a strange world filled with robot dogs, a guitar gun, and a talking Guillermo del Toro puppet.
