All time Greatest Moments in Black Ops History

    Published on:

As we Celebrate the launch of Black Ops 6, let’s look back on some of the greatest moments in Black Ops history! Keep in mind that this list is subjective, in no particular order, and each of us remembers these in-game moments differently. Furthermore, we’ll only be focusing on moments from the Black Ops games (Sorry, Modern Warfare fans, no No Russian on this list).

    5. Mason Escapes Vorkuta

We have to kick things off with quite literally one of the most exciting missions in all of the Black Ops games. The heart-racing, adrenaline-pumping sequence of escaping through the mines and onto motorcycles for an epic chase was just downright exhilarating.

Personally, I remember screaming alongside my friends as we blasted enemies with a shotgun while on a motorcycle as Reznov led us out of the labor camp. The voice lines from the other prisoners sent chills down our spines as we completed each event!

    4. Judgment Day: To Kill or Not To Kill

Judgment day is another mission on this list that we can say had a killer cinematic design to it and is one of the greatest moments in Black Ops history. From being deployed from the back of an aircraft and just skydiving to the site all the way to the final choice of killing Menendez or sparing him (Spoilers!) It was just all exciting.

    3. Rebirth: All in your head??

Rebirth has got to be one of the biggest plot twist moments in all of Black Ops history. The reveal that Reznov was dead the whole time and Mason was just hallucinating was utterly jaw-dropping. It felt very reminiscent of Shutter Island or Sixth Sense. The way the scene played out was so incredibly well done! You wouldn’t have noticed what was up until the very end showed just how deep Mason’s brainwashing was.

    2. Black Ops Cold War: Adler Executes Vikhor Kuzmin

The post-launch scenario with Adler was an exciting addition to the Cold War title and its outro did not disappoint. After fighting through hundreds of enemies and dozens of missions trying to chase after Perseus, we, the players, are rewarded with a gunpoint confrontation between Adler and Stitch. The scene was filled with tension and was a well-done exposition about the mysterious Perseus and his shadow group.

Though, as it turns out, the mantle of Perseus does not belong to just one person. It’s exciting to wonder now who replaces Stitch after he’s shot dead.

    1. The Fate of Alex Mason

Alex Mason served as the main protagonist for most of the Black Ops franchise and it’s fair to say that he’s definitely a fan-favorite among the original Operators. That’s why this scene in Black Ops 2 is so heartbreaking. Playing as Frank Woods, you’re told by Hudson to shoot a figure with a bag over their head. Believing it to be Raul Menendez, you can either shoot them in the head or the legs. After shooting, you discover it was actually your best friend, Alex Mason.

This twist was the first of many gut punches in the game and while it isn’t one of the greatest moments in Black Ops history, it is by far the most memorable. Spoiler alert, you get a different outcome in the end if you shoot him in the legs instead of the head! I know tons of people who went for a headshot only to find out the truth. According to the devs at Treyarch, however, the canon ending is the one where you shoot Mason in the head.
