Web 3 is changing how we experience the internet—especially in gaming. With the promise of ownership, decentralized economies, and real rewards, Web3 games have sparked a lot of hype. But here’s the real question: are Web3 games actually fun yet? I tried 10 of them to find out.
- 🎴 Gods Unchained – A card battler like Hearthstone, but with NFTs. It’s polished and strategic.
Verdict: Fun. - 🛸 Illuvium Arena – Beautiful graphics and auto-battler gameplay. Still in beta, but very promising.
Verdict: Mostly fun. - 🐾 Axie Infinity – Once huge, but now feels dated. Gameplay is repetitive and less rewarding.
Verdict: Not fun anymore. - 🌍 The Sandbox – A voxel-based metaverse with potential, but not much to do yet.
Verdict: Not there yet. - 🚀 Star Atlas – Visually stunning but still more concept than game.
Verdict: Fun to imagine, not to play—yet. - 🕹️ Big Time – A multiplayer action RPG with smooth combat and cool gear drops.
Verdict: Surprisingly fun. - 😈 My Pet Hooligan – Chaotic third-person shooter vibes with attitude.
Verdict: Fun in short bursts. - 🕶️ Decentraland – Great concept, but the user experience is clunky.
Verdict: Not fun unless you’re into virtual events. - 🤖 MetalCore – A mech-based shooter with fast-paced action.
Verdict: Loads of fun, feels AAA. - 🧙 Nine Chronicles – A 100% decentralized RPG. Unique idea, but very grindy. Verdict: Niche fun.
My Verdict

Web3 gaming is getting closer to mainstream fun, but it’s not fully there yet. Some titles are genuinely enjoyable, while others feel more like early-access experiments. Many still focus too much on crypto mechanics and not enough on player experience.
That said, the potential is massive. As more developers prioritize gameplay and storytelling—while keeping the Web 3 layer in the background—we’re likely to see a new wave of fun, rewarding, and community-driven games.
If you’re curious about the Web 3 space, now’s a great time to dive in—but keep your expectations realistic.
