Modern (Commander) Horizons 3 is Here!

    Published on:

The latest set of Magic the Gathering is almost here, and it’s bringing some incredible cards for Commander! Modern Commander Horizons 3, the third installment in the Horizons set, is not just about new cards. It’s about bringing back some much-needed reprints and nostalgic artworks that will surely make you appreciate the game’s history. The set also introduces new mechanics, perfect for the newly available preconstructed decks, which we’ll be exploring today.

    Disa the Restless

Goyf returns with a vengeance in the form of Disa the Restless! This commander is all about self-mill, rewarding you by bringing back your Lhurgoyf permanents for free. But that’s not all-her second ability unleashes a token strategy that can turn the tide of battle in your favor. While the obvious choice might be a Lhurgoyf tribal deck, we’re here to explore the exciting possibilities of leveraging the token effects available in Jund colors.

    Omo, Queen of Vesuva

If you’ve been playing Magic for awhile, you’ve definitely heard of Vesuva, a land card that allows you to copy other lands. Now, you can play Omo, Queen of Vesuva! She does what the Queen of Vesuva is ought to do, and makes lands and creatures every creature and every land type! This can make for some whacky synergies with tribal decks, maybe even letting you play everything tribal!

    Satya, Aetherflux Genius

We hope you kept your Aetherworks Marvels because Satya’s here to help energize your board! Menace and haste are already nice keywords to have on your commander, but being able to generate copies of creatures that can stick around forever? That’s a lot of value for 4 mana.

    Ulalek, Fused Atrocity

Yup, you read that right. The titans did their fusion dance and birthed Ulalek, the best Eldrazi commander to date! Ulalek allows you to run a bunch of powerful and complimentary colored spells in your Eldrazi deck, fueling the eldritch horrors even more. Each Eldrazi spell you cast also lets you copy all spells and abilities you control, which is sure to be an Eldrazi player’s dream and a Judge’s nightmare.

We’re pumped to see these new commanders bringing so much to the table, and are eagerly awaiting more spoilers for Commander Horizons 3! Wait, this is a Modern set? Oops.

There’s a lot of new stuff coming out this set. Will these commanders become the new boogeymen of the format? Checkout our list for terrifying commanders here!
