Exciting Changes in the 45th Update for the Elder Scrolls Online

    Published on:

Elder Scrolls Online is thrilled to announce that Update 45 for The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) is just around the corner! Set to launch on March 10 for PC and Mac, and March 26 for Xbox and PlayStation consoles, this update promises to enhance the overall game experience with a variety of improvements. Whether you’re a newcomer exploring the vast lands of Tamriel or a seasoned veteran adorned with Champion Points, there’s something in this update for you.

    Overview of Exciting New Features

    Visual Refresh of Starter Zones
In their ongoing effort to ensure Elder Scrolls Online remains a modern and inviting experience, several starter zones have undergone a significant visual upgrade. “Following the enhancements made to the Wailing Prison in Update 44, we’ve identified the five starter zones as the next step in evolving the new player experience,” explains Art Manager Morgan Godat. The zones—Bleakrock Isle, Bal Foyen, Stros M’kai, Betnikh, and Khenarthi’s Roost—have been revitalized to align with today’s visual standards, allowing new players to enjoy a first open zone experience that rivals our most recent content.

These upgrades include improved textures for ground and water, enhanced lighting, and updated structures, providing an immersive and visually appealing starting point for all adventurers.

    Enhanced Quality-of-Life Changes

In addition to the starter zone refresh, this update brings a host of quality-of-life enhancements designed to elevate your gameplay experience:

    • Improved Base Mount Speed: Players will find that mounts now start faster than before, enhancing the thrill of that initial mount experience. Senior Systems Designer Cullen Lee notes, “With these changes, mounts will feel significantly more beneficial early on while maintaining their top-end speed.”
    • Craft Champion Point Improvements: For players who have reached level 50, the Craft constellation has been refined. Many previously cumbersome stars are now permanently active, eliminating the need to manually slot them and making crafting rewards more accessible. “The update aims to shine a light on overlooked stars that are now more enticing,” says Lee.
    • Clearer Tamriel Map: Their UI team has made considerable improvements to the continent map, reducing clutter for better navigation. Lead UI Designer Bobby Weir emphasizes, “The adjustments will make the map easier to use, allowing players to focus on their adventures rather than battling with navigation.”
    • Permanent Collectible Disguises: Many quests featuring player disguises will now reward these as permanent collectibles, freeing up inventory space while providing a fun new element to gameplay.
    • Enhanced Mundus Stone Awareness: To better inform new players about the importance of Mundus Stones, reminders and clearer information will now be available, ensuring that no adventurer is left uninformed about this critical element of character builds.

These enhancements represent just a glimpse of the exciting changes coming with Update 45. Get ready to explore all that Tamriel has to offer when the patch launches on March 10 for PC/Mac and March 26 for console players.
