    Here Are 5 Mind-Blowing Announcements From Disney’s D23

Today’s guest article is written by guest contributor Hannah, a long-time Disney fan.

Have you seen how the internet exploded today with all of Disney’s D23 event announcements?

The three-hour showcase gave us updates on ongoing projects and scoops on all the new stories, but here are our favorites:

    Disney’s D23 – Frozen 3 (and 4)

Frozen 2 gave us the backstory of how Elsa received her powers as a gift from Queen Iduna’s heroism. Still, the intriguing lore about her culture and the spirits left us with more questions about Elsa and everything else (and more material for the writers to build on).

These questions will form the foundation of Frozen 3, which will apparently not be enough to tell the whole story and continue into Frozen 4 as a two-part saga. Frozen 3 is set to come out in 2027, but we did get a first look at the concept art!

    Isn’t it gorgeous?

I personally think it gives off Sleeping Beauty vibes and has my inner child too excited. With Elsa looking like the spirit she has become while riding her snow horse, we see the stark contrast between the two queens: Elsa looks seraphic, and Anna looks very solid and human.

We also see the shadow of a new villain with horns, perhaps hinting that they will be a monster this time, rather than human, as in the first two movies.

    Disney’s D23 – A Very Cute Stitch

When the studio previously announced that a live-action Lilo and Stitch was in the works, we all got a little worried about how our beloved cute alien would be portrayed on screen. But among the announcements from Disney’s D23 was the assurance we all needed: a cuteness, aggression-inducing Stitch.

Just look at him! Doesn’t he give off very cuddly puppy vibes?

And let’s not forget the genius marketing used for the teasers of the original Stitch movie: him crashing the Disney Princesses’ romantic moments. For instance, he used to blow his spaceship horn while Jasmine and Aladdin sang “A Whole New World” and broke the chandelier from the ballroom ceiling while the Beast and Belle were dancing!

If you’re old enough to remember, you’ll appreciate the teaser for the live-action remake: Stitch himself crashing the D23 convention!

    Disney’s D23 – Snow White Releases Trailer

The release of the Snow White live-action musical was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, but now that it’s back on track, we finally got a sneak peek at Rachel Zegler as the first Disney Princess and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen!

A previous interview with Zegler and Gadot revealed that Snow White won’t need a prince to save her; instead, she will dream of being a leader rather than focusing on romantic love. With Snow White’s confident smize and less than three seconds of screen time for the prince, we’re excited to see how the movie portrays a stronger princess!

Disney’s D23 – Mufasa: The Lion King Trailer

After the last Lion King live-action movie, Disney received a lot of criticism for the characters’ inability to express emotions due to their hyper-realistic appearance. But the new trailer for Mufasa: The Lion King has given us hope.

We see characters with much more expressive faces, and the trailer overall feels livelier than the first movie. That, and Lin-Manuel Miranda’s songs!

And is it just me, or did you also find the revelation that Mufasa and Scar are not brothers by blood just as shocking? I’m pretty sure the previous movies led us to believe they were actual brothers—and now I have so many questions!

Disney’s D23 – Woody and the Gang vs Ipads

Just as we thought the story of Buzz and Woody ended when the inseparable duo parted ways at the end of the last installment, here comes Toy Story 5! And just before you question if we truly need five movies in the franchise, the answer is already a resounding YES.

Toy Story 5 will tackle the real problem facing today’s kids: too much screen time and insufficient physical play.

Among the announcements from Disney’s D23, we see Woody and the gang sadly watching their kid use up precious playtime to watch a tablet instead of playing with them. If Toy Story 1 showed us old-fashioned Woody being afraid of being abandoned by a shiny new space ranger, Buzz, Toy Story 5 would show us the entire gang terrified of the prospect of ALL of them being replaced by a screen.

And that’s all we have for the top 5 most exciting and intriguing announcements from Disney’s D23 so far!

What about you? Which update had you on the edge of your seat? Are you as excited about all the upcoming stories as we are?
