The first-ever UAAP Esports tournaments have concluded, marking a historic moment for the league’s esports athletes representing the 8 member schools.
This significant event took place from August 16-21 at the Arete in Ateneo De Manila University and showcased intense competition across three different esports titles: NBA 2K, Valorant, and Mobile Legends. After days of thrilling matchups, the inaugural champions have now been crowned, adding an exciting chapter to the league’s history.

Champion – UE Zenith Warriors
The Zenith Warriors concluded their challenging tournament journey with an impressive 2-0 victory in the Grand Finals against the UST Teletigers Esports Club. Their triumph was truly a remarkable comeback story, considering that they secured the second spot in the group stage by just 1 point ahead of the Adamson Falcons. Subsequently, they engaged in a thrilling 2-1 series against the FEU Tamaraws before stunning everyone with a clean sweep in the Grand Finals.
1st Runner Up – UST Teletigers Esports Club
The Teletigers, as the top seed, dominated the group stages with a flawless record. They secured a 2-0 victory in the semi-finals against the NU Bulldogs but were unexpectedly defeated at the end by the eventual champions.

UAAP Esports – Valorant
Champion – DLSU Viridis Arcus Esports
The Viridis Arcus Esports team delivered an exceptional performance throughout the tournament, dominating all their opponents in the preliminary stages. The only team that posed a challenge was the UP in the semi-finals, leading to DLSU’s first and only loss in the tournament. However, Viridis Arcus emerged victorious, defeating the Fighting Maroons. In the Grand Finals, they continued their impressive run by sweeping the UST Teletigers with a 2-0 victory.

During the group stage, UST’s Valorant team put on a commanding performance, securing victories alongside the UP Fighting Maroons. They continued their winning streak by achieving a resounding victory against the Ateneo Blue Eagles. However, their momentum was halted when they faced DLSU in the Grand Finals and were defeated in a sweeping fashion.

Champion – Ateneo Blue Eagles – Paolo Medina
The fierce basketball rivalry between La Salle and Ateneo spilled over into the world of esports during the NBA 2K finals. The showdown showcased the skills of Ateneo’s Paolo Medina and Viridis Arcus’ Kegan Yap, culminating in a thrilling 3-game Grand Finals. Ultimately, the Blue Eagles emerged victorious with a 2-1 win, cementing their dominance in the virtual basketball arena.
Paolo’s triumph in esports was an impressive journey, emerging from a fiercely competitive triple-tie in his group, dominating his semi-finals match, and ultimately clinching a hard-earned victory in the grand finals.
1st Runner Up – DLSU Viridis Arcus Esports – Kegan Yap
Kegan demonstrated his prowess as a standout contender within his group, earning a place in the playoffs with just one defeat. His journey, however, became increasingly challenging as he battled fiercely to secure a 2-1 victory against UST Teletigers’ Erix Delos Reyes, only to ultimately suffer a 1-2 loss in the Grand Finals.

After an intense journey, both representatives of the Teletigers found themselves pitted against each other in a hard-fought battle for the Bronze Medal. Despite their dominance in the group stage, they were unable to secure victories in the semifinals. Ultimately, Erix emerged victorious with a bittersweet 2-0 win over Daemiel Argame, earning the Bronze medal in the process.
The Best-Performing University
The UST Teletigers Esports Club has demonstrated their dominance in the UAAP Esports tournament, achieving top rankings in all three titles and narrowly missing victory in two of them. Esports encompasses a diverse range of games, allowing athletes from various universities to showcase their skills in different titles.
