POKEVERSE is shaping up, as one of the biggest events to go to especially if you’re a fan of Pokemon! There are tons of surprises for collectors, gamers, and families for this three-day event which will be held at the SM Megamall Megatrade Hall from May 31 to June 2. Here are some of the things you can expect on those days.
Amazing Pokemon Guests
We here at VRSUS, were able to attend an exclusive press conference last May 14 with Jason Paige, the singer of the Pokemon Theme Song, and Veronica Taylor, the original voice behind Ash Ketchum. It was truly a throwback as we heard JP sing a couple of lines from the iconic song as well as Taylor’s Ash Ketchum voice during one portion of the interviews.
Veronica Taylor has truly mastered the gift of voice acting with characters such as April O’Neil from the 2003 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, Amelia Wil Tesla Seyruun in the Slayers TV series, and Mangchi in the English dub of Hammerboy, just to name a few. She even lent her voice to Delia, Ash’s mom in the Pokemon series. We even got a special treat during press con as Taylor did her iconic Ash Ketchum voice which honestly gave me goosebumps. The press con was held through a video call in Hobby Stadium but despite that setup, you could still feel the power and nostalgic effect that Ash’s raspy voice had which is still a delight to hear even to this day!
JP, on the other hand, is known as the guy behind awesome jingles and theme songs such as those from Mountain Dew and Pepto-Bismol. He’s worked with artists such as Michael Jackson, Foreigner, The Scorpions, Meat Loaf, Frankie Valli, Liza Minnelli, Enrique Iglesias, and Oleta Adams, among many others. On top of that, his voice can be heard in films such as The Muppet Movie, Sausage Party, and Annie.
It’s Taylor and Paige’s first time coming over to the Philippines and it’s all thanks to POKEVERSE. Both superstars shared the same sentiment that “Pokemon brings out the best in people” and that they are truly “excited to see the best that the Philippines has to offer.”
Themed Areas and Days
POKEVERSE will span three days as mentioned, with different designated areas or “cities” that correspond to a variety of activities that will cater to any and every Pokemon fan. From shopping on merch, trading cards on the floor, even down to eating Pokemon-inspired snacks and meals, POKEVERSE has got you covered. Each day will also focus on a designated theme. Day 1 is for collectors, Day 2 is for TCG and video game gamers, and the last day is themed to attract the entire family for some much-needed Pokemon bonding.
POKEVERSE Aims To Be A Family Affair.
I was able to speak with the founder of POKEVERSE, Kirck Allen, and he was able to express his vision for the event and that it goes beyond being just a venue for cosplay and tournaments but rather it’s a weekend meant for all of us to feel like a kid again. It’s all about having that nostalgic experience, a ticket to go back in time, and in doing so it’s an opportunity for families to come to be a kid again with your kids.
This three-day event will truly be a time machine of sorts back to our childhood, especially for Pokemon enthusiasts. So, what are you waiting for, make sure you grab your tickets for POKEVERSE which again will be happening from May 31 to June 2 over at the SM Megamall Megatrade Hall!
