VRSUS Cosplay Feature: Nuu, Alluring Desire By Mira Rae

    Published on:

We’re back for a new VRSUS Cosplay Feature this month, and before we get into it, thank you for your support for last month’s Savage Land Rogue by Rebyczko!

Our next VRSUS Cosplay Feature is pretty unique because not only is it from one of the VRSUS team’s favorite Trading Card Games – Flesh and Blood (FaB), but it’s also just in time for the first-ever premiere international tournament of the game in the Philippines – Calling: Manila, which features a $22,000+ prize pool and is part of the game’s $1,500,000 2024 Pro Circuit! As icing on the cake, the character we’ve picked is one of the game’s newest, most popular, and arguably strongest Heroes – Nuu, Alluring Desire!

    VRSUS Cosplay Feature

Within the context of the actual trading card game, Nuu is the Hero of a Mystic Assassin deck that was created to literally assassinate the other top Heroes of the recent competitive season in FaB. While her in-game lore is still pretty much shrouded in mystery – we do know a few bits of information about her: She’s the proprietor of a Teahouse in the Mistcloak Gully and is widely renowned for her grace and beauty. She hints at a tragic past beneath all that charm, though. Her methods of assassination involve disarming her target through seduction and the intoxicating ambiance of her place before visiting them in their dreams and mysteriously ending their lives with their very own hands.

Nuu’s enigmatic allure and deadly charisma are brought to life by the fantastic Mira Rae! She is a veteran cosplayer and is famous for her skill in portraying characters of any gender. She also loves a good cosplay challenge, and, as you’ll learn from our interview with her below, cosplaying Flesh and Blood’s iconic Mystic Assassin is as unique of a challenge as it comes.

Her Nuu costume for this VRSUS Cosplay Feature was made by Freya Akabane. Her wig was made and styled by Mae Ilagan, the photography was done by Dar San Agustin, and the editing and effects were done by Kyra Misha!

VRSUS: Thank you for being our VRSUS Cosplay Feature of the month and doing this interview. Let’s start by letting our readers know more about who you are and who you’re cosplaying today!

Mira: Hi, I’m Mira! I’m a cosplayer from the Philippines, and I cosplay Nuu from the Flesh and Blood Trading Card Game.

V: How Did You Get Into the Cosplay Hobby?

M: I actually got inspired by Alodia! I saw her one day – I’m not sure if it was HERO TV or Animax, and she was one of the first cosplayers I knew, and she introduced me to the world of cosplay. She’s one of my first cosplay inspirations!

V: What’s Your Favorite Part About Cosplaying?

M: My favorite part about cosplay is actually about the transformational aspect of it. In cosplay, I’m a lot more confident and happier about how I look. It gives me so much joy knowing that I can look different – from the next time I see people, like in the next convention, I can be like a girl, I can be like a guy, and I know that I’d have so much fun with it.

V: What Was A Favorite Cosplay That You Did?

M: Recently, one of my favorite cosplays was from Haikyu! It’s Tsukishima – he’s my favorite character forever! Haikyu recently had a movie out, so the hype for it is back, and I’m just so happy that everyone is watching it again.

V: Who Would You Love To Cosplay Next?

M: I guess I’ve been wanting to cosplay characters from League of Legends. I really like Soraka, and one of the skins I want to cosplay from her is… *gasp* I forgot! Hold on… it’s the one that has like blue – it’s kind of like a legendary skin. (VRSUS’ note: We’re thinking it’s the Immortal Journey Soraka skin). I wanna cosplay that – it’s really hard for sure, and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do it, but it’s a dream!

V: Who Would You Never Cosplay As?

M: Never? Hmm… I’m the type of cosplayer who likes challenging myself. I want to try at least cosplaying every kind of archetype that I could. But what I can never imagine cosplaying as… maybe furries? I think that’s too much for me * laughs*!

V: What’s The Craziest Thing You’ve Done For A Cosplay?

M: *Thinks* Hold on, I know there is one, but I feel I buried it deep down. Okay okay, I used DUCT TAPE to uhh… coz I crossplay a lot – I portray a lot of male characters, and I needed myself to be really flat. The problem is that much of my character’s chest area is pretty much shown, so I need my boobs to be split away from the middle part – so I duct-taped my chest to the sides! It left a mark – it’s not my proudest moment, but you gotta do everything you can for the hobby! BE SAFE KIDS!

V: What’s Your Favorite Part Of This VRSUS Cosplay Feature Shoot?

M: Honestly, the shoot itself and the photography. I feel like it’s nice that, in cosplay, your photographer and people around you are ka-vibes mo. More often than not, sometimes you get into a shoot, and you don’t know the people around you, and sometimes you don’t get their vibe. I think that’s a very normal thing, but in cosplay, sometimes, like right now, I’m cosplaying something a little more sexy or racy, so it’s really important for me to have a good rapport with the people around me that’s the most fun part about the shoot right now, so yay let’s go, team!

V: What Made You Interested In Cosplaying Nuu for our VRSUS Cosplay Feature?

M: OH, SHE’S SO BEAUTIFUL! Also, I like to challenge myself, and I’ve never really done anything like this, and it’s exciting – that’s one thing. Also, I’ve heard from my friends, who are always trying to get me to play this game, that she’s one of their favorite characters, so that’s a plus.

V: Thank you again for your time! Before we wrap up, do you have any shoutouts, and where can people find you?

M: Shoutout to my team who made this costume for me – to ate Freya Akabane for the beautiful costume and to Mae Ilagan for the wig. Follow me on my Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter socials – Mira Rae Cosplay! Finally, I’m excited to attend Calling: Manila – see you there!

The “Calling” is Flesh and Blood TCG’s premiere international tournament series that features two major tournaments, many side events for all kinds of players, a cosplay competition, featured stores and artist alleys, and more over three days! It’s basically a celebration of all things FaB, so if you want to check out and try the game, it’s a great place to start.

Calling: Manila is happening on August 16-18, 2024 at the ONE Ayala Mall, and you can register for it HERE.
