You thought we wouldn’t have a VRSUS Cosplay Feature for August didn’t you? Well, we’re clutching that just before September hits by bringing you one of gaming’s most iconic characters – the YorHa No.2 Type B, or more popularly known as 2B from NieR: Automata!
But before we head straight to her VRSUS Cosplay Feature, allow us to thank you again for all of your support, especially with our past couple of cosplays by Mira and Reby. Check out their Nuu, Alluring Desire, and Savage Lands Rogue cosplays if you haven’t already!
2B first appears to be a cold, professional, by-the-books, emotionless android who only cares about completing her missions for YorHa as they battle against the Machines. As a battler-type android, she is proficient in close-quarters combat and is tasked with multiple roles in Project YorHa. One of her roles is to observe the new scanner model – 9S during operations and eliminate him, if necessary, when his natural curiosity starts to uncover the true nature of Project YorHa. However, repeatedly being forced to kill 9S and wiping his memory starts to cause her pain, especially since throughout multiple operations, they’ve started to develop a bond.
The all-purpose battle android is stunningly brought to life by Krystel. She has been cosplaying for several years now, but 2B stands out as one of her favorites. She has also cosplayed notable characters from both games and anime, such as the Angel Devil from Chainsaw Man, Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and Jett from Valorant! The photography was done by Dar San Agustin, the editing and effects were done by Kyra Misha, and the whole set was shot at District 1 Cosplay Studio.
VSUS: Alright, let’s get started by letting our audience know you better!
Krystel: Hi! My name is Krystel. I’m a cosplayer, and currently, I am 2B from Nier: Automata.
V: What made you start cosplaying?
K: I started cosplaying because, when I actually started going to conventions, I didn’t know cosplay or cosplayers at all. I didn’t know they existed! So when I saw them, I was like, “…oh, so it was some weird clique – who are these people?”.
And then I had a friend who was a cosplayer and she told me that “we can do that too.” So I was like “OHHH OKAY” – excited naman ako, and I started cosplaying from then.
V: What’s your favorite part about cosplaying?
K: My favorite part about cosplaying is when you actually see yourself as the character, like after dressing up and everything and having the full costume on. Even if it’s not a photoshoot, just seeing yourself in front of a mirror – that’s my favorite part.
V: What’s your favorite cosplay that you’ve done so far?
K: My favorite cosplay that I’ve done so far was another version of 2B – it’s the 2B Bride Version – THAT one’s my favorite!
V: Who would you love to cosplay next?
K: I would really LOVE to cosplay Asuka from Tekken.
V: Who would you never cosplay?
K: There’s one character that I would never cosplay because I don’t think I have the materials to do it – BUT I WANNA DO IT, but I’ll never do it. It’s someone from Five Nights At Freddy’s *laughs*! I WANNA BE AN ANIMATRONIC! I wanna be si Vanny, the Bunny!
V: What’s the craziest thing you’ve done for or in cosplay?
K: The craziest thing I’ve done was like shave my eyebrows to be like circles. I’ll never do that again.
V: Circles? What was that for?
K: Umm… Onmyoji Arena – it’s a mobile game before.
V: What was your favorite part of our VRSUS Cosplay Feature shoot?
K: My favorite part was doing all of the action shots, even though it was very tiring – like, I don’t think I can stand right now! But seeing all the shots after, they were worth it.
