On November 20, Riot Games will launch a new, “Arcane”-themed set for Teamfight Tactics (TFT), titled Into the Arcane for both PC and mobile. This reveal happened during the 2024 League of Legends World Championship Final at London’s O2 Arena, much to the excitement of both the live audience and millions watching online.
Fans were given a first glimpse of Into the Arcane through an exclusive teaser trailer. The preview highlighted a tender family reunion and showcased fan-favorite Little Legends, adorable avatars in TFT, as they reminisced about their favorite moments from Arcane, along with popular fan theories. The set lets players engage with the Arcane universe in a new way. It introduces themed champions, cosmetics, traits, and mechanics that encourage players to create their own stories in the game.
Winston Baker, the lead producer for Into the Arcane, reflected on the creative approach. “Teamfight Tactics players may remember our sixth set, Gizmos & Gadgets, which included some Arcane content,” he noted. “With Into the Arcane, we wanted the show to be an integral part of the set from its inception, infused into every aspect of the game. We hope players feel this is the most Arcane set ever.”
The set will feature several fan-favorite characters from Arcane who have yet to appear in TFT, including Violet, Powder, and Vander. Riot Games also teased the inclusion of Ambessa Medarda, the powerful Medarda family matriarch, joining the roster. More units and themed content will be unveiled on Teamfight Tactics’ social media platforms as the release date approaches.
Thematically, the Into the Arcane set embraces the themes of transformation and evolution that Arcane is known for. Shawn Elizabeth Main, the lead set designer, emphasized this connection, saying, “Arcane has always been about transformation and evolution. We can’t wait for players to see how we’ve embraced these core themes and integrated them into the gameplay of Into the Arcane.”
For both new players and seasoned fans, Into the Arcane promises a warm welcome. Riot Games will reintroduce Tocker’s Trials, a player-versus-environment (PvE) mode, in the first patch of the new set. This experimental mode provides a relaxed environment where players can get acquainted with the game’s mechanics without the pressure of competition.
Peter Whalen, the game director for TFT, highlighted the set’s immersive potential. “Teamfight Tactics has always been about fan fiction, but Into the Arcane takes immersion to a level that fandoms dream about,” he said. The aim is to appeal to players of all skill levels, ensuring everyone has a chance to enjoy this rich blend of TFT’s strategy and Arcane’s storytelling.
Ahead of the full release, Riot Games plans a special reveal event for Into the Arcane on November 10 during the Grand Final of the Magic n’ Mayhem Tactician’s Crown. As fans eagerly await, Riot’s expansion of the Arcane universe within TFT promises a fresh, engaging experience that blends fan-favorite characters and world-building with the strategic depth that has made Teamfight Tactics so beloved.
Teamfight Tactics: Into the Arcane connects Riot Games’ universe with fans. It gives Arcane fans an interactive way to engage with their favorite characters and stories while they wait for the next episode of the show.
