Who Is The Right Rosetta Hero For You?

    Published on:

This guest article is written by Kyle Lantion, an active Flesh and Blood TCG Judge, player, and community builder. He took his time away from the Savage Lands to explore the newest set and tell us what Rosetta has in store!

Whether you’re a veteran player or a newbie who just bought their first blitz deck, a new set is always exciting. With the release of the newest Flesh and Blood TCG expansion set, Rosetta, a lot of you may be contemplating picking up a new hero. Over the coming week, we will have general guides and breakdowns of the new heroes. In this article, we’re going to take an in-depth look at Classes and Talents in this set and hopefully help you narrow down the type of deck you want to try.

    Talents and Classes

In this set, there are two classes, both of which are Elemental Talent. For the newbies, Talents are an additional archetype that goes with the Hero Class and affords them a larger card pool. For this set, we have Elemental Wizards and Elemental Runeblades. We have two kinds of heroes for each Elemental Class, one utilizing the Earth element and one using the Lightning element. Now, I know that this may sound overwhelming to the newbies, but it’s pretty simple! The Lightning heroes want to use lots of instants and attacks with go again to go wide, while the Earth heroes like to hit hard with one big attack and are usually tanky.

There are two new keyword abilities in this set as well: Decompose and Lightning Flow. Decompose is a triggered ability that allows the player to get a bonus effect from their cards if they banish two Earth cards (Cards with the Earth sub-type) and one action. These effects require early-game setup but have great late-game payoffs. Lightning Flow, on the other hand, is a little easier to pull off. All it needs is for you to play a lightning card during the turn, and you get the bonus effect.

Now that you’re caught up to speed with how the two Elements play, let’s look at the different classes!

    Elemental Wizards

Wizards are and have been considered to be the most difficult heroes to play in Flesh and Blood since the game’s release back in 2019. They don’t play like usual heroes in FaB because instead of attacking with weapons and attacks, they use cards that deal Arcane Damage. Arcane damage isn’t your typical kind of damage that can be defended with cards but instead requires equipment with the Arcane barrier ability. These heroes (mainly Kano) want to set up a big one-turn combo that deals a lot of damage and potentially one-shots your opponent. The newest kind of Wizard introduced to the game in Rosetta are the Elemental Wizards! Verdance and Oscilio are a little bit different from Kano and play a little more like the now Living Legend, Iyslander. They don’t set up to one-shot the opponent but rather play a mix of attacks and arcane damage before finally unloading a massive combo into the enemy’s life total.

    Elemental Runeblades

The first ever Elemental Runeblade was released in Tales of Aria and was a powerhouse of a hero! Briar, to this day, has left a lasting impact on the game, and her weapon is what everyone considers the best Runeblade Weapon. In Rosetta, we are introduced to two new heroes, each of which embodies a different aspect of the now Living Legend, Briar. Runeblades are a unique class in fab in that they present a mix of both arcane and physical damage in the form of Runechants (Auras that pop to deal 1 arcane damage when you attack), spell effects, and attack action cards. Unlike the new Elemental Wizards that attack and use Arcane combos to finish you off, the new Runeblades whittle your life total down in one of two ways. They either do a multitude of attacks and arcane damage or bash you with a large attack and a sizable number of Runechants.
